Do not equate being single with being alone. I was thinking about this recently because of the phrase ‘just friends’ and ‘more than friends.’ That phrase implies that like, being ‘just friends’ with someone is somehow less than being in a romantic relationship with them - that like, friendship is a continuum that ends with sex. Which is an extremely weird thing to think and say, but it’s so built into our language that we don’t even think about how incredibly strange it is.
